Final Stage Of A483 / A55 ‘Pinch Point’ Roadworks To Begin
The final stage of the extensive ‘pinch point’ roadworks on the A483/A55 is to begin next week.
On Monday January 5th ‘Phase Four’ of the ongoing works is set to begin, with work expected to be completed by March.
The ‘A55/A483 Pinch Point Scheme Roadworks’ as it is formally known has taken place in four phases, with work initially starting back in September.
This phase of the work will see the widening of the ‘northern quadrant’ of the roundabout upgraded to four lanes, full carriageway construction and the introduction of a new A55 exit slip arrangement.
The A55 westbound slip will also be widened, which will result in the closure of the offside lane / taking slip road down to two lane for a period of six to seven weeks. A full list of the works can be found below.
During phase four of the works there will be a series of road closures, all of which are listed above.
Those who regularly commute down the A483 to Chester will have noticed that the ‘Wrexham Road Roundabout’ has been removed and work is under-way with the installation of traffic lights. A new entrance / exit onto the A483 from Pulford has also been introduced.
The £5.3m roadworks are part of a ‘national pinch point programme’ and aim to tackle congestion on that stretch of road.
During the works a 50mph speed limit will be in force along the A55 and A483 mainline carriageways in the proximity and through the works when indicated by traffic signs.
