Faulty traffics lights on a busy junction in Wrexham have been branded an ‘accident waiting to happen’ by motorists.

The traffic lights, which are located on the A483 and A541 near the B&Q Roundabout have been experiencing issues for several weeks (if not a couple of months!), with many motorists calling for the faults to be fixed.

As the image above shows, the traffic lights are currently out of sequence with each other – with the front set of lights showing red and orange and the far lights only showing green.

Calls have been made by motorists for for the lights to be repaired, with the sequence fault causing issue for those using the slip road onto the A483 and for those entering the roundabout via Mold Road.

One motorist told Wrexham.com that the issues with the traffic lights are an ‘accident waiting to happen’.

Wrexham.com queried the traffic light issues with Wrexham Council to find out if there was any indication as to when they will be repaired and what the fault is.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “We have been aware of significant issues with the lights on the signal junction between the A483 and A541 for some time.

“The lights on the junction are the responsibility of the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency, and as such we have written to the Welsh Government Minister responsible for transport to highlight the issue.

“We are now pleased to hear that work is being arranged to upgrade the lights at the junction, we would also want to see the adjacent set of signals incorporated in to any works plan.”
