Nightingale House Hospice has just announced details of its annual Fancy Dress Drag Walk.

The sponsored three mile walk gives men the opportunity to strut their stuff, whilst raising much needed funds for the hospice each year.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday 29th April at 11am and starts and finishes at Eagles Meadow in Wrexham.

Laura Parry, Community and Events Fundraiser at Nightingale House Hospice said: “Last year’s fancy dress drag walk was fantastic, over 100 men took part and really got into the spirit of it. It is such a fun event and one that keeps growing year by year.

“The Drag Walk was created specially to give men the opportunity to get involved with raising as much money as possible for Nightingale House Hospice, with the emphasis on having fun, just like the popular ladies only Midnight Walk, which also takes place on Saturday 30th June, and is also open for registration. Visit www.ladiesmidnightwalk.co.uk for more information.”

Laura also encouraged people to get their friends, family or work colleagues to sign up or even just to come along as spectators.

She added: “Marshalls and volunteers are also needed for this event, so if you can help out, please also get in touch.”

You can register online at www.nightingalehouse.co.uk and download a registration form or call 01978 314292 and you will receive a form through the post.

In 2012 it will cost £2.54 million to run the hospice which equates to nearly £7000 per day.

Only 19% of this comes from the local health board, which is only enough funding to support the hospice for 69 days.

Nightingale House therefore greatly rely on the generosity of the communities they serve to raise the additional funding for the remaining 296 days of the year.
