In less than a few hours Wrexham’s first stadium in over thirty years will begin – and already there is a buzz of excitement across the town.

Almost 20,000 music fans are expected to descend on the Glyndwr University Racecourse Stadium throughout the day to watch some amazing live music from Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Ramona Flowers, Pretty Vicious and of course, the Stereophonics themselves.

Music is expected to begin at around 4pm this evening. Stereophonics will take to the stage at 7:40pm and a prompt 10pm finish is expected!

Already there are large crowds at the Racecourse, and off the back of Wales’ incredible victory last night, there is already a a great atmosphere and air of excitement in the town.

Despite many’s initial concerns about the ticket swap / wristband collection; both yesterday and today queues have continued to move quickly. So much so, the William Aston Hall have tweeted to say the ticket exchange is currently less than a minute.

The party has already begun in several locations across the town, with The Maesgwyn and the Premier Inn on Mold Road hosting pre-Stereophonics parties.

It’s a similar situation directly outside the Racecourse, with The Turf hosting an afternoon of live entertainment ahead of the main show this evening.

Road closures and diversions are already in place, with Mold Road now down to one way traffic for those heading out of town. This road closure will be in place until 9:45pm.

Crispin Lane is also closed to traffic, however pedestrians and those doing a ticket exchange can access the road.

A Park and Ride service will also be in place on Ruthin Road, which will be directed through town, either via Ruthin Road or Chester Road, and be allowed to drop off on the inbound side of Mold Road before re-joining the outbound carriageway

Due to the road closures Wrexham Council are advising members of the public ‘to allow extra time for journeys in and out of town as concert-goers arrive’.
