Cllr David Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport said:

“The Etape Cymru is a major sporting event that we hope will become an annual event here in Wrexham.

“There has been a consultation process with residents affected by road closures and the response has been positive.

“I would like to thank residents for their co-operation and I am sure they will support the cyclists as they make their way through the 100-mile route, passing through their communities. ”

Cllr Rodney Skelland, Lead Member for Regeneration and Corporate Governance said:

“As one of only two traffic-free sportives in the UK, the 100-mile Etape Cymru in North Wales has some of the most beautiful views and memorable roads in Britain.

“People from all over the UK have signed up to take part in the event, with many of them staying in the region, bringing economic benefits to the area and enhancing Wrexham’s national profile.

“I would like to wish everyone taking part in the Etape Cymru good luck and hope they enjoy everything Wrexham has to offer.”
