Erddig Apple Festival – Picture Special
Over the weekend, Erddig played host to its annual Apple Festival.
Now in its 23rd year, hundreds of visitors visited the site each day to take part in the yearly event. There was plenty on offer for everyone to enjoy, including craft and cider making demonstrations, music and of course, plenty of apples!
Yesterday could easily have been mistaken for a summer’s day, with families gathering to sit in Erddig gardens with picnics and deck chairs. In the Erddig gardens there was live music, a Punch and Judy Show and even the chance to play a quick game of croquet.
After paying a visit to the opening of the Wolf’s Den Play area earlier this year, we were happy to see the Wolf itself embracing the spirit of the Apple Festival.
Elsewhere in the marquee, there was live cookery demonstrations taking place across the weekend. The marquee was also full of stalls that sold jams and preservatives, photographs, gifts, freshly made Welsh cakes, interiors and even the occasional apple or two!
Of course the star of the weekend was the apple, and there was plenty on offer for people to sample and buy. Inside the Erddig barn there was a rather impressive display of apples, along with advice on which are the best to cook with etc. Interestingly there was also an apple doctor on hand, to help you solve any of your own apple related problems!
There was plenty of fresh food and drink on offer, so we thought a fitting end to the day would be to have a pork and apple bap and sample some of the cider.
