Environment Champions Thanked For Hard Work

A host of local groups, organisations, schools and individuals from Wrexham came together recently for an awards ceremony that recognised those who have played an important role in improving the environment throughout the County Borough.

The event was for community groups, Community Councils, Council staff, schools and businesses involved in the Wales in Bloom.

Wrexham achieved the coveted “Gold” award in the Wales in Bloom competition. Chirk achieved the Silver Gilt in the in the Small Country Town Category with Johnstown also being recognised with the a merit Sliver Gilt.

The award of five green flag awards for the parks at Ty Mawr, Alyn Waters, Nant Mill, Ponciau and Bellevue Park was also celebrated, with a thank you to all the Friends Groups that were involved.

Lead Member for the Environment, Cllr Bob Dutton, said “Wrexham has everything to celebrate as it takes a look at how schemes such as Wales in Bloom, Britain in Bloom, Pride in Your Streets and Best Kept Village have improved the environment in which we all live and work.”

“I would like to thank everyone involved for their significant contribution in providing an environment that we can all enjoy.”
