Last week we conducted a photo trip down 300 metres of Regents Street to observe the empty shops to prompt debate about why the shops are empty and what could be done about it.

JJB Sports at the top end of Regents St now has signs in its window confirming local rumours that its set to close on the 24th of June.

In recent weeks the JJB Sports shop appeared to move towards a stock clearance or outlet style retail experience rather than the ‘normal shop’ it had used to be.

In one positive from the bad news that yet another empty shop will now be on Regent Street is the minor benefit that super cheap sports gear can be picked up in the closing down sale – David Thomas tweeted saying he picked up a pile of Wales gear for £12.50 !

You can view the report here or the forum thread which has a cracking debate on it here.

Just down the road Clintons Cards closed last week.
