A Wrexham based company has raised £7,306.43 for Nightingale House Hospice following a 15 mile walk in fancy dress on the Wirral.

Around 50 walkers from Ellison Europe (Sizzix), based on Whitegate Industrial Estate, tackled the Wirral Coastal Walk from Seacombe Ferry to Thurstaston Visitor Centre and Country Park.

The route took them from Seacombe along Egremont Promenade towards New Brighton, with views across the River Mersey to the famous Liverpool waterfront. Then it was along the Irish Sea coast through the North Wirral Coastal Park to Hoylake, and then to Red Rocks, where the Dee Estuary meets the Irish Sea. They continued past West Kirby Marine Lake on to the Wirral Way, before finishing at the popular country park in Thurstaston.

Becky Jones of Ellison said: “Nightingale House is close to our hearts in our community and we are always keen to do what we can to help with fundraising. The walk was great fun as we were all in fancy dress. We had a few funny looks, but it meant we gained even more donations along the way!”

Alongside their fundraising efforts, Ellison supports the Hospice in many other ways including upcycling furniture for sale in its charity shops, as well as Coffee and Craft Morning workshops which have been held at the Hospice’s Regent Street store in Wrexham.

Other fundraising activities have included a sponsored walk up Snowdon as well as gifting arts and crafts equipment from their brand Sizzix for hospice social workers, supporting children experiencing bereavement as well as for day patients.

More recently Ellison designed and helped install the hospice’s Sunflower Meadow at Chirk Castle, which is proving to be a successful summer campaign for the hospice.

Debbie Barton, Hospice Corporate Partnerships Manager said: “Our huge thanks once again go to Ellison for their fantastic fundraising activities. They have raised significant funds for the hospice in recent years and been so kind to us in many ways. We really value their support and enthusiasm.”
