Several bus routes which have been out of operation since the collapse of GHA Coaches, are to be brought back into service.

Earlier this month Wrexham.com reported that Wrexham Council had put eight routes left unserviced since GHA Coaches went into administration, out to tender.

The closing date for those interested in taking over any of the services was Friday 5th August.

Last week Wrexham Council confirmed there had been a limited response to the exercise and that and that only a few commercial transport operators responded to the tender

However a statement released by Wrexham Council today notes that: “Although the response to the tendering exercise was limited, the small number of tenders has allowed officers to process them quickly, meaning transport providers will soon be in a position to bring services back to routes, subject to the necessary statutory procedures and approval by the Traffic Commissioner.”

The service routes covered by the new contract will be:

No 6 & 17 : Wrexham – Ruabon & Wrexham – Moss/Lodge
No 42F : Erbistock Area
No 45F : Maelor Area
No 47F : West Wrexham Area
No 64: Llanarmon DC – Llangollen
No 146 & 34 : Wrexham – Whitchurch & Wrexham – Trevalyn

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “We know the weeks since GHA Coaches went into administration have been an incredibly frustrating time for people reliant on public transport, but following the tender process we will be able to get things moving as quickly as possible.

“We also note that many of the new services will not be like-for-like compared with earlier commercially-operated timetables.

“These new services will have to be approved by the office of the Traffic Commissioner.”

Further details of timetables and start dates for the services will be provided as soon as they are available.
