Early morning police activity in Hope has been explained, following local reports that a road had been closed off.

Several police cars were seen outside the Red Lion Pub, in Hope shortly before 3am this morning.

One person contacted us overnight to say that the road near the pub, on Hawarden Road had been closed off – and three police cars were at the scene.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said they had received reports of men acting suspicious in the area.

A search of the area took place, however it proved negative.
