Male Arrested Following Late Night Rhosddu Incident

Roads were closed off in the early hours of this morning while emergency services responded to an incident in Rhosddu.

At 11:41 last night emergency services were called to an incident on Cunliffe Street following a reports that a male was attempting to self harm.

The male was located and seen to be in possession of a knife and refused to cooperate.

Shortly after fire was seen to ‘billow’ from one of the rooms and residents were evacuated from the property. Forced entry was used to enter the building.

The male was contained on a roof and negotiated down safely and arrested.

Several police cars, an ambulance, a fire engine and the police helicopter were called to assist.

Rhosddu Road was closed off to traffic from the Spar to the laundrette, with Spring Road also closed.

North Wales Police and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service will continue their investigation into the incident today.

Wrong Way On Bypass
In a unrelated incident overnight a car was seen driving very fast northwards on the A483 in the wrong lane. We were told of the situation by Andrew, who was driving in the left lane heading southbound when a car went past in the right hand lane heading northwards.

Andrew said it occurred between Gresford and Rossett and there were ‘lots of police’.
