A family have been left ‘traumatised’ after a toddler was left with head and facial injuries after being attacked by a stray dog yesterday evening.

A three year old boy suffered lacerations to his eyes and had a chunk of skin bitten from his head after he was attacked by a large dog in Brynteg at around 5:30pm yesterday.

The toddler’s grandmother, Anita Williams told Wrexham.com that the incident had taken place just off Holborn Crescent, Brynteg when her grandson and his father were walking back from the Premier Store.

Ms Williams said: “They were coming from the Premier Store and a black and white dog appeared from nowhere, and pinned him down. It is horrific what the dog has done, my grandson’s head has been bandaged up. It was quite traumatic.”

The family quickly took the child to the Accident and Emergency Department at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, where he had the wounds on his head and face glued together and bandaged up.

We are told the dog is large, black and white and believed to be a stray, although that has not been confirmed.

Ms Williams added that she hopes someone in the area will have seen the dog before and have further information, before the dog attacks another person or child. It is hoped that there maybe CCTV footage in the area of the incident as well.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police confirmed they had received a call at 6:30pm saying that young boy had been bitten by a dog in Brynteg earlier that evening.
