North Wales Police have warned people to be cautious of letting people into their homes – with reports of people pretending to be from the ‘water board’.

Police have said this evening: “Residents of Wrexham and surrounding areas should be cautious of men pretending to be from the water board following a number of distraction burglaries in the area today.”

“If you see anything suspicious please call 101/999”

Yesterday we were made aware of an account of a similar sounding incident at a town centre address that was widely shared post on social media – referring to men gaining entry after saying they wanted to ‘check the water pressure’, and an elderly man was robbed.

That post now not visible, and on checking with North Wales Police they said they could not locate a report of that nature with the information we provided.
