Council Officers have suspended refuse, recycling and green Collections in Glyn Ceiriog & Llanarmon areas tomorrow due to access and safety issues.

The Council have said all other Monday collections will be as normal, adding “We apologise for the inconvenience.”

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, went to see for himself this morning some of the issues where snow had left communities struggling with access with up to 8 foot of drifting snow.

Cllr Bithell told us: “It really was a different world and driving conditions and visibility was very poor, we had our own tractors and JCBs together with contractors working to open main routes are we are confident these should be open or at least passable.

“Our officers also took a call this morning as a 90 year old lady living alone was short on fuel for her heating and the company was unable to gain access. Our tractor was on hand to assist in snow clearance.”

In town temperatures are over 4C and this morning’s snowfall has been replaced with rain showers, prompting a mini-thaw.
