Fire crews were called out at 06:50 am this morning to tackle a fire at Old Bungalow Garage on Bryn Estyn Rd garage towards the east of Wrexham

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said there were oxyacetylene cylinders at the garage which are causing concern. Due to this residents in the surrounding estates on Holt Rd have been advised to stay indoors with some evacuated.

The police helicopter was over the area early this morning, at around 5am, however we are unsure if that is connected.

The ‘explosion’ that woke some residents was first reported to us at 7am, we were told of an “explosion and huge fire” with “Huge clouds of black smoke”.

Three days ago fire services were called to the industrial estate to deal with a similar cylinder fire – which took most of the day to cool.

As of 10:40am Bryn Estyn Lane is open to traffic however there is manual traffic control from PCSOs.

We understand that water is still being used to cool the cylinders, which will keep happening for a few more hours. The water is coming from the stand pipe in the road as pictured.

There is still an exclusion zone in place, but has been reduced.
