A crowdfunding campaign to help raise over £13,000 to help send a local ballet dancer to the Northern Ballet School, has been launched.

Katie Malone, who has been dancing since she was five years old, has been accepted at Northern Ballet School, Manchester to start in September 2017 on a three year course to study a national diploma in professional dance validated by Trinity College London.

However her mum, Sally Malone, a single-working mum, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help raise £13250 to get Katie through her first year of ballet training at the school.

Mrs Malone said: “I have had to choose to raise funds for Katie in this way as I have found that many foundations, charities, companies and fund givers financially support groups rather than individuals.

“I work which also goes against Katie and consideration is not given to the fact that she is a triplet and that all three girls are the same age and at the same stage in life. I can pay for her accommodation but cannot afford the fees.

“Without this funding this stunning ballet dancer will not be able to attend Northern Ballet School.”

She added: “She dances at a local small dance school where she has danced since she was 5 years old studying ballet, musical theatre, tap, jazz and modern. She is a fabulous dancer and has gained distinction in grade six ballet and is currently studying intermediate. Katie got distinctions in her jazz gold and modern inter foundation level exams. In tap she got a merit in her grade 5 exam.

“She is head girl at the dance school and has volunteered there every Saturday for the last couple of years to help teach. Katie has done lots of dance shows and was in a professional panto at a local theatre. She is very successful in local competitions and takes first place for ballet.

“I am a single working parent and have bought Katie and her sisters up on my own since they were six years old. Katie is a triplet and financially it has been hard but I have worked hard to provide for them. She is at a local school and is studying 13 GCSEs. She is a very talented young lady and I am a very proud mum.

“I would be so grateful if anyone could donate so that Katie can go to Northern Ballet School. From the bottom of my heart I am very grateful that you have taken time to read this and hope however small you are able to make a donation towards Katie’s dream. ”

Gresford councillor, Andrew Atkinson has also joined the campaign and is appealing to local people that wish to and are able to support Katie to donate via the crowd funder link here.
