Fire crews are currently tackling a fire at a storage unit on a retail park in Wrexham.

Shortly after 2:30pm this afternoon fire engines were seen travelling in the direction of the Plas Coch Retail Park, with reports of an incident in the area.

Nick told us: “Fire engine and ambulance at back of Sainsbury’s. Lots of smoke from a chimney. Hoses across road too.”

Wrexham.com took the below pictures of the scene, where black smoke was billowing from a chimney behind Sainsburys in their storage / delivery yard. This was promptly put out, with what then appeared to be investigation and damping down safety checks taking place.

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service told us that they were called to a fire at a storage unit on the Plas Coch Retail Park at 2:43pm this afternoon.

Two appliances from Wrexham and one from Deeside are currently at the scene.

PCSO Charlotte Hodges has also tweeted to say: “Assisting @NorthWalesFire at Plas Coch at the moment. Please drive slowly on the main road of the retail park.”

Further to PCSO Hodge’s tweet we did see several vehicles hammering over the hoses laid over the Plas Coch road despite the obvious incident taking place!

The Welsh Ambulance Service also attended the incident, however they were not required.
