Wrexham Council is currently Reshaping its service in order to meet the unprecedented budget cuts in the coming years.

£45 million has to be found in three years in order to allow the council to balance its books.

The Reshaping Programme is the Council’s key way to meet the financial challenges it faces in the coming years, while also prioritising the most vulnerable in our communities.

Phase One of the Programme was completed last year and Phase Two started in April 2015.

In a report to Scrutiny Committee on 22 July, Leader of the Council, Cllr Mark Pritchard, will update members on the progress so far.

Cllr Pritchard said: “This report updates members on our progress to date and where we are going in the future. The current consultation with Senior Management staff is now underway and I will be taking a report to Executive Board and Council in September on the outcome of that consultation.

“Workshops are being held with staff to develop further opportunities for change which will form part of next year’s budget which will go out to full public consultation later this year.

“There is no doubt these are the most challenging times ever faced by local authorities and that there are difficult decisions to be taken in the future with regards to what we can and what we cannot continue to provide.”

The report goes to Customers, Performance, Resources and Governance Scrutiny committee on 22nd July. Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting which starts at 1.30pm in the Guildhall.
