Wrexham Council have been criticised for the number of ‘bins overflowing with rubbish’ in a local park.

Over the weekend Wrexham.com were sent two separate images by visitors to Acton Park showing how full of rubbish the bins were on Saturday.

The image featured above, sent by Nic, also shows dog poo bags left on top of a bin near the lake.

This is the third time such issues with ‘overflowing bins’ in the park have been reported in the past month, with someone contacting us in July with a similar image.

At the time Nic told us: “Reported this bin on Monday still the same in Acton park Wednesday. The council are quick to put up about the green flag award and then this.”

We contacted Wrexham Council this morning to ask who is responsible to empty the bins an how often. We also have the cuts to park rangers services had an impact on the upkeep of the facilities there.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “The bins at Acton Park were emptied on Sunday.

“Bin collections have not been affected by cuts to parks. Issues in staffing have affected collections, but these have now been resolved.”
