Wrexham Council have launched a consultation, available online, on the draft Tree and Woodland Strategy and are looking for your views.

The Council say: “Trees and woodlands are an essential part of the County Borough’s landscape and are integral to the wellbeing, health and quality of life for all who live, work and visit Wrexham. Trees add considerable environmental, social and economic value to the County Borough however; their future cannot be taken for granted.”

“The recently completed Wrexham i-Tree Eco project shows us that our urban tree population provides us with £1.2 million pounds of ecosystem services (air pollution control, storm water management, carbon storage, etc) per year.”

Wrexham’s draft Tree and Woodland Strategy (2015-2025) has been prepared with the key aim of having a sustainably managed and protected, healthy and diverse tree population with sufficient canopy cover to benefit and meet the needs of all who live, work and visit Wrexham County Borough.

Councillor David Bithell, Lead Member, Environment and Transport, Wrexham County Borough Councillor said, “as part of the Council’s consultation process we are seeking comments and opinions on the draft strategy. Your comments are important and will help shape the final strategy”.

Full details and an online questionnaire are available on the council’s website, with the link to the online consultation survey here.

Paper(!) copies can be requested by contacting 01978 729641 or e-mailing: [email protected]

The consultation period runs until 30th September 2015.
