Companies team up to fundraise for dementia charities
A series of fundraising activities held by two companies have raised almost £2,000 for dementia charities.
Staff at DTCC and Thomson Reuters, who are based on the Wrexham Industrial Estate raised £1,900 through a sponsored bike ride from Erbistock to Shell Island, bingo, cake sales and a World Cup Playstation tournament.
The companies also qualified for an extra company cash grant of $1000, as their cyclists volunteered over 40 hours between them, unlocking a Thomson Reuters bonus. This equates to £752.31 at today’s exchange rate.
Local group, Dementia Friendly Wrexham, will receive £621, with the rest going to Alzheimer’s UK.
Mark Roberts and members of the DTCC / Thomson Reuters cycle team presented members of Dementia Friendly Wrexham with their share of the cash at their July meeting.
Norah Lucas, Chair of Dementia Friendly Wrexham said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this support from DTCC / Thompson Reuters, who have been supporting our group in many ways for almost a year now.
“We intend to use their donation to help us in our efforts to raise awareness of dementia right across Wrexham.
“90 per cent of people living with dementia are not in care homes but are out and about in our community, so we all need to be aware of dementia and have an idea of what we can to help.
