Members of the local community joined together over the weekend to help clean-up the town centre and to help “make Wrexham the town it should be.”

The event had been organised by local poet and spoken word artist, Evrah Rose, who organised the ‘Wrexham Big Clean-Up’ on Sunday in an attempt to restore pride in the streets and the local community.

With negativity on Facebook and social media about mess in the town and empty shops, Evrah decided to encourage people power to help her and others to “make Wrexham the town it should be.”

More than 40 people, including local residents and businesses, joined together on Sunday morning to “make a difference” and clean-up the town centre.

Speaking to Wrexham.com after the event, Evrah said: “Today just showed how important the town is to a lot of people. I could not be more proud.

“Not just because people came out and volunteered but because I saw a sparkle in their eyes, a sense of community. We are stronger together I truly believe that.

“I just want to thank everyone for giving their time and energy today and to those who sent well wishes.

“There were folk of all ages, children too mucking in, giving their hearts to our centre.”

Plans are already underway for a second event, which will take start at 10:30am on October 6th outside Saith Seren.
