A facility that delivers training opportunities in Wrexham is to close at the end of the month, resulting in the loss of 10 jobs.

ACT will be closing its Wrexham Skills Centre that delivers work based learning provision to 16 to 25 year olds on 31 March 2015.

The service, which was in 1988 provides funded work-based qualifications for learners aged 14 and upwards on a range of subjects and career areas.

Since taking over The Old Brewery site in 2011, ACT has delivered training opportunities to young learners from across Wrexham in a range of skills, including hairdressing, business administration and customer services.

In total 42 learners and 10 members of staff will be affected.

Commenting on the closure, Andrew Cooksley, Managing Director of ACT said: “Obviously, we very much regret the impact this will have on the staff and learners involved. However, we are doing our utmost to ensure that all learners can continue their training with other local providers before we close and are ensuring that they are fully supported with the transfer.

“We are also doing all that we can to support the Wrexham team to secure other employment.”
