Troubled card outlet Clinton Cards are set to shut their store on Wrexham’s Regent Street administrators have announced today.

Last week there was some positive news for one branch of the business in Wrexham as the Eagles Meadow store was bought by American Greetings.

However, jobs will now be lost in the town after the company’s administrators Zolfo Cooper decided to shut the Regent Street store.

It is not yet known how many jobs will be lost exactly but the store is believed to employ in the region of 5-10 staff.

Clintons had been a mainstay on one of Wrexham’s main shopping streets for years but is one of 43 stores to have closed this morning.

It is believed that the Regent Street branch was one of the stores in a portfolio identified as part of the closure programme announced on 16 May 2012.
