A vacant store on a town centre retail park could be given a fresh lease of life as a children’s soft play area.

In an application submitted to Wrexham Council, a change of use has been proposed for Unit 2 on Central Retail Park.

The building was previously home to a furniture shop, but has been vacant since December 2018..

The proposed change of use would see the store changed from solely retail use to Class D2 (assembly and leisure) and Class A1 (retail), which would allow ‘Banana Ben’s’ to open a children’s soft play facility and cafe space.

Plans submitted for consideration show that the ground floor of the building will include separate soft play areas for 0-six months, six months – three years and three years and over.

It is also proposed that three party rooms are built in, along with a sensory area / disco room.

A cafe and seating area will also be provided alongside the play facilities.

Details provided within the application’s planning application state that five full time and five part time jobs and that the building would operate between 9am and 7pm Monday-Sunday.

If planning permission for the change of use into a soft play area is approved, the retail park will return to full occupancy.

The application will be considered for approval at a later date.
