Two groups from Deeside Junior Athletics Club have raised over £580 for Coleg Cambria’s chosen charity of the year British Heart Foundation Cymru.

Twenty three children aged 5-9 years from the Monday and Wednesday groups took part in the sponsored mile run on the athletics track at Coleg Cambria. Even in the height of a heat wave most of the youngsters managed to run the whole mile, occasionally taking drinks breaks. Some parents who were in attendance also joined in the run.

The total amount raised is double what was raised at the same event last year, with one member of the club raising a staggering £132 on her own.

Athletics Development Officer, Donna Welsh said: “The children were amazing running the mile in the hot temperatures we have endured. Both the parents and children have done extremely well collecting so much money.”
