Thousands of people have had their journeys affected today with delays of up to four hours being reported to travel a distance of just seven miles.
The problems on the road have persisted throughout the day, and the works are due to continue through into Sunday.
UPDATE 8pm: This picture of the odd sight of cars going the wrong way up the A483 slip by Rossett was sent to us by Roy Smith:
UPDATE: Cheshire Police have updated the public at 3:30pm saying: “Please be aware there are long delays and standing traffic on A483 Wrexham Road. Please avoid. “.
UPDATE: North Wales police updated motorists just after 1pm saying: “Please avoid A483 Wrexham to Chester. Planned roadworks on the Post House roundabout has caused tailbacks and lengthy delays.”
We are told police stopped cars coming on at Gresford and Rossett junctions due to the issues with the roadworks.
The main issue appears to be again the lack of signposting, with the first indicators of the works being at the minor roundabout at the top end of the bypass, rather before sliproads or further south on the road.
Quite a few people have been tweeting us and commenting on our Facebook page, with a selection below:
Amy said she was stuck for three hours: ” Why are there no warning signs or diversions signposted from A483?”
Liz has said: “Roadworks popped up last night. Coming out of Chester had to go down a55 and get off at Sainsburys turnoff, turnaround and come back towards wrexham. Not good.”
Whereas Caroline commented: “The road works are not a surprise, they have been well publicised and planned for very long time. What’s terrible is the timing, and lack of communication in terms of road closure dates.
“On a Saturday in the middle of the summer holidays, come on! I feel sorry for anyone stuck in this today, what a bloody shambles!”
Original story below…
Roadworks taking place on the Posthouse end a55/483 junction have caused some motorists to get stuck in traffic for up to two hours.
Andrew Dawson tweeted us the above photo of the traffic on the A483 northbound.
Roadworks.org has listed the delays as ‘Abnormal traffic’, with delays of up to two hours. However it states that normal traffic should commence at ’12:30′
Many motorists have been in touch to say that there has been no signage or warning regarding the roadworks. A similar situation happened just two weeks ago, when the A483 was bought to a standstill due to roadworks on the roundabout.
Frustrated I forgot the A483 could be backed up, ridiculous as no warning signs or suggestions to avoid! @wrexham

There have also been reports of motorists driving up the ramp the wrong way on junction 7 of the bypass, trying to get away from the traffic.
We will be keeping you updated with the delays on our Twitter feed, so keep an eye on @wrexham for updates.
