Charity Catwalk Challenge to Showcase Pre Loved Fashion

Pre-loved fashion is set to get a new lease of life in an upcoming charity catwalk challenge.

Models will this month be strutting their stuff on the catwalk – but it won’t be in New York, Paris or Milan, it will in one of Wrexham’s most popular bars.

Organised by seven Hospitality, Tourism and Events students from Wrexham Glyndwr University, the festive fashion show will be held in aid of Nightingale House Hospice.

The catwalk will come to Set The Bar, Lord Street at 6pm on Wednesday 7 December.

The event will see models sporting clothing donated for sale in local charity shops operated by Nightingale House.

Attendees will have the opportunity to shop at a range of boutique stalls and enjoy live music by local singer, Luke Gallagher, before being treated to a glimpse of Nightingale House’s ‘winter collection’ in the fashion show itself.

The collection will showcase a small sample of the clothes available in any of the Nightingale House shops in Wrexham, Mold, Flintshire and Whitchurch including some designer items from Ben Sherman, Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger.

Every item in the collection has been handpicked by the Glyndwr students and will be available for sale after the show.

Organiser, Emma Vaughan, said: “We were overwhelmed by the amount of good quality and fashionable clothing available from Nightingale House charity shops.

“In this age of social responsibility, we are hoping to encourage shoppers to consider the excellent range and value of pre-loved clothing and we have some truly wonderful outfits to suit all.

“During the planning of this event, we have met some fantastic people who work tirelessly to raise funds for Nightingale House which supports people from Wrexham to Flintshire and East Denbighshire to Barmouth as well as the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.

“We feel honoured to be able to support their good work and hope this event is a huge success.”

John Donnelly, Retail Development Manager for Nightingale House added: “One million tonnes of cloth is thrown away every year yet, people don’t realise how beneficial second hand clothing items can be. Not only are the clothes sold by Nightingale House good quality items at prices that won’t sting you in the pocket, but there is quite literally something for everyone.

“We are very grateful to the students from Wrexham Glyndwr University for organising this event which, we hope, will showcase how classy and fashionable pre-loved clothing can actually be. I would urge anyone looking for a fun night out with fabulous entertainment to come along and see for themselves.”

Entry to the Christmas Fashion Show costs £5 with nibbles provided. Tickets are available, in advance, from Set the Bar, via Facebook, by email at wxmfashionshow@gmail.com, via Eventbrite at Wxmfashionshow or by calling 07837997135.
