A series of changes to bus services in Ruabon have announced ahead of essential gas main repair works beginning.

Last week Wrexham.com reported that the works, being undertaken by Wales and West Utilities, will take place along High Street and will cross the junctions of both Park Street and Church Street

As a result it will mean High Street will be closed from its junction with Park Street through to its junction with Maelor Place. Traffic will be able to turn right in to Park Street as they approach the junction from Ruabon Station, but all other manoeuvres at Park Street and Church Street will not be allowed.

Access will be maintained to all properties during the closure, which will be in place for 3-weeks, however this may be via those signed diversions utilising the A483, New Hall Lane, Tatham Road and B5605 Ruabon Road.

The works are expected to take three weeks to complete and diversions will be in place.

Now a series of changes to bus services have been announced ahead of the roadworks beginning:

Route 2, 2A & 2C towards Wrexham will turn right at the Wynnstay Hotel in Ruabon and serve the temporary bus stop on Park Street near the Wynnstay Hotel. Buses will then proceed on the A483 towards Rhostyllen, and resume normal route to Wrexham from Rhostyllen Roundabout.

Passengers wanting Ruabon village, Vauxhall Ind. Est and Johnstown will change here for the 2B (when operating) or carry on to Rhostyllen to connect with route 3/4/4A to continue their journeys

Route 2B (both directions) will operate normal route to/from Ruabon High Street to the health centre and turn around and start back towards Wrexham.

Route X5 towards Corwen from Wrexham will proceed directly along the A483 to re-join normal route at the A539 Llangollen Road.

Route 2 towards Oswestry will turn right off B5605 Ruabon Road onto Stryt Las, and then B5097 Afoneitha Road & Copperass Hill, onto Plas Bennion Road and resume normal route to Oswestry from A539 Llangollen Road.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “These essential gas works will inevitably mean disruption to the public because their usual routes are not available to use and I am grateful to the bus operators for their response to this matter.”
