Update: Police have confirmed that Brook Street has now reopened.

Update: Two adults have been taken to hospital after the earlier crash, with no update as to their condition.

Original information below…

Brook Street is closed off this afternoon by emergency services.

A Ford Kuga has crashed into the frontage of Chicago Rock.

The vehicle is lodged fully inside the building with fire crews assisting the driver. It appears the vehicle may have been travelling eastbound before hitting the building or down Vicarage Hill.

The incident took place just before 1pm .

An eyewitness has told us: “The car came speeding down Vicarage Hill with no intention of slowing down, and then it turned slightly and smashed through the window. Then I heard a scream and saw a police van which luckily was travelling down Brook Street, and saw the whole incident, pull over and try to help the occupants.”

North Wales Police have said : “Road accident in Wrexham Town. Areas affected are Brook Street from Pentrefelin side and Town Hill and Vicarage Hill from the Abbot Street Junction. Please use other routes for the next few hours if possible.”

Police, ambulance and fire service are on scene.

Traffic is being diverted from Island Green end of Pentrefelin up Hill Street, however police are also closing the road expect for access from Island Green roundabout.

More shortly.
