The Butchers Market entrance on the High Street was cordoned off this morning with yellow police tape, as scenes of crime officers worked in the corner newsagent.

We are told that the shop was broken into some point this morning, with cigarettes being taken.

A door was smashed to gain entry to the shop unit, with the main iron gates to the market being suggested as the point of entry.

The newsagent has recently changed ownership, and the new owner told us “There will always be elements of society who will do this type of thing. The overwhelming majority of the people of Wrexham are good and honest but there is a minority who ruin it for others”.

One local trader has told us that such thefts not only affect the one shop but have a ‘knock on effect for traders inside the market as well’.

More as we have it…
