UPDATE: The shop owner has sent us this message saying he is ‘fuming’ after attending court today to see the outcome of the case.

Mr Hall said “What a joke, just been to the court. The girl who broke into my shop got 10 weeks but she will be let out today as she has been in prison for seven weeks. I get no compensation because she has no money. They even joked in court she had her teeth done in prison and it was like having a makeover, to say im ********* off is an understatement”.

Original story below:

A shop in Pen Y Bryn was raided in the early hours of this morning with several bikes stolen.

CCTV of the incident capturing images of those involved has been recorded showing the brazen nature of the theft.

Two young men broke in just before 2am, forcing a padlocked metal grill aside and then wedging a door open to gain access. Once inside the pair nonchalantly picked up two bikes and walked off. Thirty minutes later two men reappeared in the shop alongside a female, again in a very casual manner they all picked up specific bikes and walked out of the shop closing the door behind them. No other items in the shop were stolen, nor was there any attempt to find any other items of value.

Overall five bikes were taken worth around £500.

Shop owner Simon Hall has said he will be covering the loss out of his own pocket as its unlikely the insurance will cover the thefts.

Despite already having several security systems in place Simon told Wrexham.com he intends to beef things up even more “I installed the new windows and doors, not only to make things more secure but to smarten the place up however I am now looking at installing a metal door. This will not look very nice but it could be whats needed to keep people out.”

Despite the break in and theft the shop is still very much open for business. You can pop up to The Bike Shed Secondhand Shop on Pen Y Bryn, or visit their facebook page by clicking here.
