Theatre, Television and Performance students from Glyndwr University are preparing for their annual end of year production.

This year the students will be showcasing Willy Russell’s musical, Blood Brothers; a tale of two twin brothers separated at birth. The performance of Blood Brothers is particularly relevant this year as it has recently finished its 24 year run in the West End

The production will see around 70 students from across all levels of the course perform an afternoon and evening performance from the 11th – 13th of December.

“We try not to do anything too Christmassy” said Theatre, Television and Performance lecturer Elen Mai Nefydd, “The degree has grown a lot the last three years, it’s good to have all three years working together.”

The degree course and the annual performance provides students with the opportunity to gain an insight into what to expect from the acting agency when they graduate. Students were expected to prepare a speech or song at the start of term as part of the audition process.

Elen said “We try to do everything like the industry”.

The performance, which will be held in the Catrin Finch Centre at the university, has already attracted attention from GCSE students who are studying the text for their course. However there are still tickets available for the performances, which are at 1:30pm and 7:30pm for the three days.

“Ticket prices are low”, said Elen, “It’s a good opportunity to take the family”.

Tickets are £4.50 and £3.50 concession.
