Just before 7:30am this morning a loud bang was heard to the west of Wrexham, resulting in a power cut.

SP Energy say all issues have now been resolved, although it is not yet confirmed it was a sub station ‘tripping’.

Pete Evans told us: “Just heard a huge bang in Johnstown followed by a major power cut. Sounded like a substation blowing. Hope no one was hurt.”

Today one person who was nearby the bang told us: “It blew up. I was walking by it as it happened unfortunately.”

“I thought it was a firework at first because of the smoke and sparks!”
