There are cancellations to services between Wrexham Central and Bidston tonight after an assault of a driver, with ‘youths’ detained.

In a statement the Borderlands rail service said: “The driver scheduled to drive this evening’s trains between Wrexham Central and Bidston has been subject to assault and threats by youths at Wrexham.

“Whilst the youths are now in police custody, the driver is unfit to carry out safety critical duties.”

“There are no replacement drivers available this evening.”

“Road transport is extremely limited. No buses are available due to prior commitments for FA Cup Semi Final journeys, etc. Taxis will be used but may be limited in capacity. Taxis will attempt to follow the advertised train timetable as closely as possible. Road transport may take up to twice as long to complete the same train journey.”
