Arson Closes Town Centre Car Park

St Marks car park was closed yesterday for just under an hour yesterday morning after a suspected arson attack.

The fire was set behind the Regent Street shops by the entrance to St Marks car park. One appliance from Johnstown attended to put out the fire with no harm caused.

One onlooker told us that a “rather officious crew member” was incorrectly telling members of the public that taking photographs of the scene was ‘illegal’.
