Those who risk their lives and the lives of others by driving under the influence will face the ‘full force of the law’.

Over the past week there have been four incidents of drink driving in the town centre resulting in arrests.

Town Centre Inspector Paul Wycherley said that often drink driving is seen as seasonal, with the offence highlighted during Christmas campaigns – however officers are vigilant throughout the year.

He said: “Anyone who gets in a car and drives when drunk deserves to be caught by the police and have the full force of the law against them.

“In the town centre we have a state-of-the-art CCTV system with Wrexham Council, who have direct radio link to us. They are very keen to alert us to anyone who looks as though they are going to drive in a vehicle under the influence of drink and drugs.”
