North Wales Police are currently investigating an incident at DRH Off Licence in Rhosnesni that took place at around 8pm last night.

Youths attended the shop and threatened staff into handing over cash before running off towards Park Avenue. An 18 year old local woman was arrested shortly after the offence and is currently detained at a Police Station.

Det. Insp Arwyn Jones from Wrecsam CID said: “We would ask the residents in the vicinity of the shop to check their gardens and hedges today for any property that may have been discarded by the offenders when running from the store, and if anything is located to please contact the Police ASAP. Fortunately no one was injured during the incident.”

Det Insp Jones added: “Although this is the 4th incident of a similar nature to have occurred at similar stores over the last couple of weeks, we have made four separate arrests in relation to the respective offences, one of whom has been charged with robbery and is awaiting sentencing by the court. We are working hard with our Community Safety colleagues to ensure that the necessary advice and support is given to similar stores with regards to this type of offence and that all lines of enquiry are being pursued with the intention of bringing these offenders to justice.

“In general offences of this nature have decreased over the last 12 months and we are determined this very recent spike will be ‘nipped in the bud’ and with the continued support and vigilance from the local community I’m sure we can quickly identify those responsible and bring them to justice. It is also worth reminding all house holders and business owners to be vigilant at all times, always ensure your property is locked and secured and if you see any suspicious behaviour contact police immediately.”

If you witnessed this incident or have any information about who is responsible please contact Police on 101 on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote RC 13198417.
