Armed police attended an address in Ruabon this morning based on ‘intelligence from the local community’.

Several police vehicles with armed police and a dog unit attended an address on Daniels Drive in Ruabon around 7:20am.

An eyewitness told Wrexham.com that one person had appeared to be detained, yet North Wales Police later said no one had been arrested.

CI Dave Jolly of North Wales Police said: “Based on intelligence from the local community we executed a firearms warrant at an address off Daniels Drive, Ruabon this morning.

“A gas powered hand gun was recovered. No one has been arrested.”

“I appreciate that this operation may have caused some disruption and I would like to thank local residents for their understanding.”

Just after 10am the Alliance Armed Policing Unit tweeted a picture with the same marked 4×4 police vehicle saying: “Early start to the day for #AAP who conducted Armed operation in partnership with @NwpWrexhamRural #OneTeam”.
