16 new houses could be built in Burton if a planning application is successful.

The proposals involve the erection of 16 two-storey dwellings on the land at the former Rosemary Nurseries, which are located on Burton Hall Road. These dwellings would feature 11 detached houses with four bedrooms, two semi-detached houses with two bedrooms and three terraced properties that would comprise of two bedrooms. Car parking and ‘landscaping’ would also be provided for the dwellings.

It is also stated in the report that five of these houses are intended to be ‘affordable housing’.

The land was previously housed a garden centre, which was known as Rosemary Nurseries, and currently comprises of a number of large glass houses, poly tunnels and also brick outbuildings.

An accompanying document to the planning application states: “The site is currently redundant and an eyesore which detracts from the character of the surrounding area including both agricultural land in the immediate vicinity and properties within the settlement of Burton adjoining the site.”

However it is hoped that the dwellings will ‘accommodate new development which will add to the local character and area of Burton.’
