Appeal For Information Following Llangollen Fire & Assault

Police investigating a fire and an assault in Llangollen early this morning are appealing for information and witnesses.

Officers were alerted at 3.44am to a fire at a motor home in the Berwyn area, Llangollen. North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were informed and attended.

A short time after, officers were alerted to an assault at the same location. A 46-year-old man was taken to hospital with injury which is not believed to be serious and was later released.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with the fire.

Police inquiries into the incidents are continuing. A joint investigation with the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is continuing into the fire at the motor home.

Both men, who are known to each other, are currently in custody awaiting questioning.

Detective Inspector Sion Williams said: “Our investigations are continuing and I’d urge anyone who has information relating to the incidents, who may have been in the vicinity at the time or who witnessed anything they feel may be of relevance to our inquiries to contact detectives at St Asaph CID on 101 quoting reference number R096361.”
