Appeal For Witnesses Following Fatal Collision

A motorcyclist has died following a fatal collision near Overton earlier this morning.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a collision on the A539 road at Overton close to the Cross Foxes Public House this morning (Friday 28th August 2015) as a result of which a motorcyclist died.

The collision happened shortly before 7.40am this morning on the A539 close to the Cross Foxes public house, Erbistock, Overton, and involved a blue and white Suzuki motorcycle and blue Fiat car.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40’s from the Penycae area of Wrexham, sadly died. His next of kin have been made aware and the Coroner for North East Wales has also been informed.

The A539 was closed for over four hours before reopening at 1pm this afternoon.

Sergeant Jane Thomas of the Roads Policing Unit said: “A full investigation is now taking place and we’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision or events leading up to it to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote reference S131094.”
