Appeal after man dies after A5 collision – police confirm road to remain closed for some time

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died after his car collided with a lorry in the early hours of this morning.

The collision occurred at around 12.30am on the A5 near the junction with Gobowen, Shropshire.

The man was confirmed dead at the scene.

West Mercia Police say it is awaiting formal identification.

Anyone who saw the collision is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 9 of 20 March 2019.

The road is likely to be closed for some time between the B5069 roundabout for South Gobowen and the B5070 roundabout for Gledrid. Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to find an alternative route.
