Appeal After ‘Hit And Run’ On Link Road

A cyclist has been left injured after he was knocked off his bike earlier this week.

The incident took place early on Monday morning, when cyclist Daniel Dougherty was travelling on the Wrexham link road to work just before 6am.

Daniel was wearing a reflective jacket, under armour and several lights and reflectors on his bike.

Daniel’s mother told us: “My son was a victim of a hit and run on Monday morning on his way to work. The driver failed to stop. Luckily Daniel only had minor injuries.”

Speaking of the vehicle they are trying to trace: “We know it was a light blue car from a piece paint of the bumper.”

Since the incident a number of people have launched appeals for further information via Facebook and Twitter, one of which has been shared 147 times via Facebook.

The ambulance service said: “We had a call from North Wales Police shortly before 6am on Monday 12 January to a road traffic collision involving a cyclist near Borras in Wrexham.

“We responded with an emergency ambulance, and a man in his 20s with minor injuries was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.”

A spokesperson for North Wales Police have confirmed they are aware of an incident.
