A former bank in Chirk is set to be converted into three apartments.

In February 2018 Wrexham.com reported that plans had been submitted to Wrexham Council proposing that the former HSBC bank on Church Street in Chirk is converted into housing.

The bank has remained vacant since April 2016 after HSBC announced its plans to close the facility.

However the application submitted to Wrexham Council proposed that the the vacant building is converted into two one bedroom apartments and one two bedroom apartments.

Details submitted in the initial application earlier this year stated: “The current use of the building is vacant and unused. So, rather than letting the building deteriorate, we are seeking to improve localised residential aspects.

“By allowing this proposal to take place, a disused unit can take on a new lease of life and support the local community by providing new residential apartments suitable for the younger generation.

In a report due before planning committee members tomorrow it is noted that the application has been approved by the head of environment and planning under via a delegated decision.
