Andrew Atkinson Selected As Wrexham’s Conservative Candidate For General Election
Andrew Atkinson has been selected as the Welsh Conservative candidate for Wrexham in the General Election.
Mr Atkinson has challenged for the Wrexham constituency seat in both Westminster and Welsh Assembly elections, and is on the ballot for Gresford councillor next week.
The Conservative party have a ‘fast track’ selection process for former candidates, and he was formally selected unopposed tonight at a meeting in the Wynnstay Arms in town.
In a short statement issued this evening that notes he has ‘campaigned on a number of issues locally, including improving infrastructure and our town centre, and keeping maternity services at the Maelor Hospital’ Mr Atkinson says: “It is a great honour to have been chosen by Wrexham Conservatives to fight for the seat.
“I was born and raised and live in Wrexham and I am proud of our town. I will be campaigning hard on the issues that matter to the people here, like more jobs and opportunities for young people.”
“For too long the people of Wrexham have been overlooked. This has to change – and now is the time to make that change.
“We need this election to secure a strong and stable leadership – under our Prime Minister Theresa May – to see us through Brexit and beyond.”
“I look forward to fighting for the people of Wrexham and to putting their needs first.”
