One of the offenders is believed to have been carrying a bladed weapon.

CID and Crime Scene Investigators have  attended the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call Wrexham CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Thursday 10pm

An armed robbery took place late this evening (Thursday) at the McColls newsagent at the Acton shops on Rhosnesni Lane. When we went down at 11:30pm police forensic teams were pouring over the shop collecting information.

One member of staff wearing a blue uniform looked shaken by the incident.

The police helicopter was seen flying overhead for around 45 minutes focused particularly over the Acton and Rhosnesni area.

We have had several tweets in claiming that robbers armed with machetes raided the stores, however this is yet to be verified.

It follows a similar raid in the area on the Co-op on Borras Road in November.

In that incident cash was taken after staff were threatened with a large knife and axe.
