Air ambulance called to incident in Acrefair

The Wales Air Ambulance has landed in the Acrefair area this afternoon.

Update 3:32pm – the air ambulance has flown over the town centre and has landed at the Maelor hospital

It has since been confirmed by the Welsh Ambulance Service that an elderly woman has been taken by road to Wrexham Maelor Hospital in a stable condition.

Shortly before 2:30pm there were reports that the air ambulance had been seen over Rhosymedre, however it has since been confirmed crews are in attendance at an incident at an address in Acrefair.

A spokesperson for Wales Ambulance Service said: “We were called at approximately 2pm to reports of a medical emergency at an address on Whalleys Way, Acrefair.

“The Wales Air Ambulance and a crew in an emergency ambulance are currently in attendance.”
