Abenbury Road has reopened after twenty eight hours of semi closure.

Wrexham Council have said just after 3:30pm today (Wednesday) Abenbury Road has now reopened to all traffic after an incident yesterday where a lorry hit a bridge.

The road was closed to all but local residents, many of whom were slightly confused to not be able to gain access easily to the area.

Yesterday’s story below…
Emergency services received a call at 11:31am this morning reporting  that a lorry had collided with a bridge.

At around 11:40am, the above photo was tweeted to Wrexham.com by Tom, who told us that the road was currently closed off.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police told us that it appears only one vehicle was involved in the collision and that an ambulance has attended the scene.

Highways are currently in attendance and a section of the road remains closed off.

Update 15:55 Tuesday- Wrexham Travel have tweeted to say there is structural damage to the bridge and diversions remain in place.

Access to the road is currently only available for residents.
